
The Garden of Earthly Delights
Edible installation addressing the theme of identity based on how it is performed according to self-identification and preconceived ideas about age, gender, ethnicity and class.
Inspired by the Nazari gardens, symbol of the Garden of Eden and the myth of the origins of the world, explores the use of ingredients and recipes of specific regions with in the US as emblem of individuality while creating a metaphor of the construction of identity and power negotiations in social interactions. Based on information provided by the participants of the “Race, Gender, and the Historiographies of Art” Seminar from the University of New Mexico.
